Cicada from my world

A cicada is an insect of the order Hemiptera, suborder Auchenorrhyncha, in the superfamily Cicadoidea, with large eyes wide apart on the head and usually transparent, well-veined wings. There are about 2,500 species of cicada around the world, and many remain unclassified. Cicadas live in temperate to tropical climates where they are among the most widely recognized of all insects, mainly due to their large size and remarkable acoustic talents.

  3. I don't think I have ever actually seen one - and certainly not seen one up close like this. But, yes, I have certainly heard them on those hot August nights...

  4. Your captures are stunning. Cicadas are just coming to the end of their cycle here and as our autumn sets in their songs lessen.

  6. Fantastic close up capture of this interesting creature … its see-through wings are beautiful and its stick legs are going a great job of grasping the cloth beneath it!
